The Los Angeles District Chapter 214 is a self-governing group of CPSA members that operates to promote colored pencil art within the Los Angeles area. By promoting camaraderie and education locally, our chapter provides additional opportunities for our members and helps the parent organization of CPSA by attracting new members. Members of the CPSA parent organization are free to join District Chapters around the country.
Although CPSA and the District Chapters offer some of the same services (exhibitions, workshops, etc.), they operate at different levels. The focus of CPSA is on the entire membership and the art public at large. The District Chapters, on the other hand, focus on members and events in their local areas.
District chapters are a network of subsidiary entities around the U.S. operating under the umbrella of CPSA (the legal entity). Chapters represent and act as advocates of CPSA, advancing our organization’s mission and goals at the local level, and thereby extend the reach of CPSA—much like college houses of a fraternity.
In short, cpsa.org promotes colored pencil globally, and the District Chapters promote and support colored pencil locally.
Colored pencil artists find immense joy in the creative process, as the medium allows for incredible detail and vibrant expression. Whether capturing the softness of a flower petal or the bold contrast of a portrait, colored pencil artists are drawn to the endless possibilities of this versatile medium, finding joy in every step of their artistic journey. We invite you to explore our member galleries, each showcasing the incredible detail and vibrant expression that colored pencil art offers.
"What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?"
"Art is never finished, only abandoned."
"I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers."
