ABOUT DEB GARGULA

Deb cannot remember a time when she did not draw and paint! Each piece of art is an adventure, a chance to explore the world, to explore her materials and interact with the subject. Her paintings are atmospheric and tranquil rather than a photographic representation of the subject. She is inspired by the beauty and the variety of creation. Her artwork is about sharing beauty, inspiration, impressions.

She currently works in colored pencil as well as soft pastel. The result of allowing herself to explore, play, experience, her work now includes a number of substrates including wood, porcelain, travertine stone, formed paper, canvas, and additionally paper of different types and textures. She designs and develops 3D constructions, allowing her to tell the story of her subject from different viewpoints within the same piece of art. This journey has revealed that the journey is never over. There is always something new to explore. She carries this belief into her teaching.
